Check Out (and Support?) the Podride
Posted on 16 April 2016
A good friend of mine, Simon, a Swede, thought I might be interested in something being developed by Mikael Kjellman, a Swedish engineer. It's a vehicle called the "Podride" (or bicycle car).
My first reaction was admittedly to laugh, but I found myself believing in it more and more as I heard Kjellman talk about his invention. He clearly and earnestly believes in his work, which is what got me believing in it, too. He's hardly engaging the viewer in a hard-sell, but rather, he just wants to show you this thing he made. Definitely watch the introduction video; it'll surely offer you a smile. I've also thrown some links below if you want to watch more videos or support the Podride on Indiegogo.
Here are some words from the man himself, via the Indiegogo page:
"...I like outdoor adventure sports and work as a design engineer. I really like to bike, but where I Iive in Sweden, the weather is not always very bicycle-friendly. So I designed and built a four-wheeled bike with full fabric body to keep dry and warm in all-weathers. I have driven it to work every day for a year now and it has proven to be a very practical and comfortable little vehicle. It is a fun vehicle to drive and I really like to build things. But the big reason for me has been the environmental benefits these vehicles could have if they were made more popular."
