Lost Pictures of Portland's Jazz Scene
Posted on 24 April 2016
Portland resident Michael Henniger recently unearthed something quite special and important to our city's history while going through some forgotten photo negatives in his Northeast Portland garage.
Carl Henniger, Michael's father, was a freelance photographer in town in the 1950s. During the golden era of Portland's jazz scene, Carl would show up at clubs to photograph notable local and national musicians. It would seem that the photos Michael shared with OPB are just a few of many. He also mentions his hopes to print the photos and exhibit them here in town. I know I would go and see the show!
